Dopo la vittoria al NYFCC, Killers of the Flower Moon di Martin Scorsese si aggiudica il premio di miglior film anche al National Board of Review 2023. Fondata nel 1909, la rinomata organizzazione statunitense è tra le prime ad aprire la stagione dei premi relativi alla stagione cinematografica appena trascorsa, assegnando premi di vario genere e stilando una serie di liste dedicate ad evidenziare i migliori film americani e internazionali dell’anno.
Oltre al premio di miglior film, Killers of the Flower Moon si è aggiudicato il premio per la miglior regia, per la miglior attrice protagonista (Lily Gladstone) e per la miglior fotografia (Rodrigo Prieto, celebrato anche per il suo lavoro in Barbie). Incetta di vittorie anche per The Holdovers di Alexander Payne, il quale si è aggiudicato il premio per il miglior attore protagonista (Paul Giamatti), per la miglior attrice non protagonista (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) e per la miglior sceneggiatura originale. Da segnalare anche le vittorie del film di Yorgos Lanthimos Povere creature! nelle categorie relative al miglior attore non protagonista (Mark Ruffalo) e alla miglior sceneggiatura adattata.
